About Me

Hey, I'm Joseph. I'm a Senior Platform Engineer based in Cambridgeshire, UK. I spend most of my time building infrastructure platforms, developer tools, and whatever else I find interesting at the intersection of cloud, security, and AI.

During the day I work at Obrizum, where I build and run the platform infrastructure behind an AI-powered learning platform used by over 250,000 people. Our clients include defence companies, global certification bodies, and some of the biggest names in enterprise learning. Before that I was at LexTego, where I was one of the early engineers on Tazama, an open-source fraud detection platform that started with Gates Foundation funding and ended up under the Linux Foundation. I helped build it from zero, then led the commercial implementation that turned it into a real product serving real customers.

Outside of work I run Reaktif, which is basically my excuse to keep building things. Markwise is an AI-powered knowledge management tool with a few thousand users. Osprey is an open-source financial crime prevention engine I'm building at opensource.finance, think enterprise transaction monitoring but simplified into something a small team can actually deploy. TaskWing is a CLI tool that gives AI coding assistants persistent memory of your codebase. I also fine-tuned a small LLM called Osprey Narrator for compliance reporting, published on HuggingFace and Ollama. I like shipping things and seeing what sticks.

I've been an AWS Community Builder in Security & Identity for four years running now and I lead a couple of developer communities, Reactive Programming Group and Solo Founder Network. I've spoken at OpenUK State of Open Con, Dagger events, and various community meetups. I like the intersection of building stuff and talking to other people who build stuff.

I studied Computer Engineering at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University in Ankara, Turkiye. I live in the UK.
